Good news, I hope. I didn't know the flange thingy was a separate part - shows you, learn a new thing every day.

BTW I persuaded my damper to work by adding another cupped washer - tight as hell to get it in, but works very well. Maybe just a normal washer would work too - I'm told it will. You need a big bench vice and use it to squish the extra washer in.............

I'd suggest you take it apart again and have it welded by someone who knows composite metal welding.
Much cheaper.............or buy one on e-Bay.

that is what i did with the damper, put a washer in and this solved the starting issue. i think that is next avenue however, getting the existing case repaired either with a compound epoxy adhesive or plastic metal. it basically only has to sealed so that oil cannot escape then the problem will be fixed.

JB Weld man , on that intermediate casing,believe it's available in the UK too
......it's real good stuff and can take heat and pressure like ya wouldn't believe
