Default Sprocket change ??'s

I want to start by saying I have used the search, and read the posts on sprocket changes.... I still have some questions.

I have a 96 the only mods are , a V&H 4 in 1 with a Yoshi RS3, and a K&N filter.
It will skip the front tire on full throttle, I would like more grunt. Don't really care if it stands up ,but would like it to pull a foot or so on acceleration with just throttle. I was thinking of going up on the rear sprocket and putting a jet kit in the carbs (stock jetting). The thing is I don't want to lose the top end. Or want to throw the speed O off much. My question is would going up one or two teeth on the rear be worth the money? How far off would the speed O be?

By the speed O mine tops out at 170. Its not un common for me to push it to the 150 mark, but rare I go past that. I just want to maximize in the range I run it.

So what Do I need? BTW I did swap to a 180/55zr17 rear tire.

Thanks Guys(Or girls)

Glen

I went from 17 to 16 front on my CBR 1000 F-92 and was real happy with that. It gives 6.25 % more torque on the rear wheel and the top speed will be about as stock since thebike pulls stronger also on 6th. You could also go up 2 or 3 on the rear, 2 rearis a little less change than 1 front, and 3 is a little more.

I would chose to go up 3 rearif this this sprocket is available, that will give 7 % more torque. Going up rear will move the rear tyre forward if the stock chain is used and that will make the bike a little more turn willing. It is also better for the chain to increase the rear sprocket even though 16 front is absolutely no problem either. There seems to be plenty of options for your bike http://www.jtsprockets.com/52.0.html..._uid=537&p=

In case you later will make the bike even snappier you can also go down one front, but the top speed will then go down some.

On my recent Blackbird I run -1F and +2R thatis just perfect for me since I want the bike to be real snappy on all gears and don’t mind a little increase in fuel consumption. It has reduced the top speed on the bird from about 300 km/h to 270+ km/h, but that is still more than enough and it works very well both on road and on track. I wouldn't change the gearing even if the bike was used on a tour thrue Europe, others may want lower rev for daily commuting and long trips than me though. The bird nowrevs 4000 rpm at 100 km/h calibrated.
