spare engine ?
i have been offerd a spare engine out of a 1000F-J model bike , my bike is a 1000F-K would there be any differance in engines being that the body shape was the previousmodel shape, as i can buy it real cheap with the carbs , rad, oil coolers and airbox with it , it seems to good to miss, the engine was removed only because the bike was dropped and stripped for parts ?
If it's really cheap, buy it, there are some parts that are the same, and some that aren't - depends how much, and what you want it for.......
but is the actual block the same? if i wanted to fit it into my bike ?
im looking to rebuild mine due toa rattle bottom end when cold around 3000 revs , and i know it aint the timing chain

I believe that it is - I used a J series set of gaskets in my L, and all was fine. Carbs on the earlier one were 38.5mm as opposed to the 38mm of the newer models, but the m models have flatslide- type carbs. Best option - check the manual.
Fh and fj will fit into the same frame. The only thing that is different is the head and hose positions but seeing that you are taking the rad as well this should not pose a problem.
