OK HERE WAS THE PROBLEM THAT I THOUGHT WAS THE REG\REC. THE STARTER CLUTCH ENDED UP BEING WORE. I ENDED UP DROPPING THE ENGINE AND SWAPPING PIECES ON THE END OF THE ALTERNATOR AND RESETTING THE ADJUSTMENT ON THE TENSIONER THAT RUNS OF OF THE ALTERNATOR. YOU CAN GET ALTERNATOR AND BALANCER ETC OUT WITHOUT DROPPING ENGINE BUT ONCE YOU PULL IT OUT YOU HAVE TO RESET THE TENSIONER WITCH MEANS BREAKING THE BOTTOM HALVES. THANKS FOR EVERYONES INPUT IT WAS VERY VALUABLE SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO POST BACK. IT ONLY TOOK ABOUT 12 HOURS TO DO.
AS FAR AS THE SOME1 LOOKING FOR PARTS ABOUT SHOCKS, I HAVE THE BOTTOM SLIDERS IN GREAT CONDITION. I ALSO HAVE A TANK THAT HAS 1 LITTLE DENT,THE INSIDE IS PRETTY CLEAN.
THE 96 900RR I WAS WORKING ON IS FINALLY DONE, BOUGHT IT FOR 500.00 AND NOW AM TRYING TO GET 3500.00. I ONLY PUT 1800.00 IN IT.

Just a few questions?
How hard was it to split the cases?
What tools did you need?
What lifting equipment did you need to take the engine out of the frame?
I had my starter clutch go on me just after I bought the bike, but the silly bike shop couldn't find the fault so they took my bike back and gave me another CBR1000

DROPPING THE ENGINE IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT, YOU MUST GET BIKE OFF GROUND AT LEAST 8-10 INCHES. EVERYTHING PRETTY MUCH HAS TO COME OFF, I LEFT ON THE FRONT TOP COWL. LOOSEN ALL MOUNTS I THINK 4 ON EACH SIDE AND MARK THE SPACERS ACCORDINGLY TO WHERE YOU TOOK THEM OUT. I HAVE A REGULAR SEARS MOTORCYCLE JACK THAT I ROLLED UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE AND YOU USE THOSE 6 0R 7 FINGERS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE OIL PAN TO SUPPORT IT ON THE JACK THEN CAREFULLY WORK IT OUT. DONT FORGET THE ELECTRICAL HOOKUPS THERE ARENT MANY .
AS FAR AS TOOLS GO JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MANUAL, AND TORQUE WRENCH. I USED A HIGH QUALITY RTV SEALANT AND IF DONE CORRECTLY YOU WONT HAVE ANY LEAKS, I DONT. SOME PLACES WILL CALL FOR THREAD LOCK IF I RECALL CORRECTLY.
ALSO JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALOT OF ROOM ON YOUR TABLE TO CATEGORIZE ALL THE GEARS AND STUFF, AND TO BECAREFUL OF THE MAIN BEARING CAPS WHEN REMOVING THE HALVES, THERE ARE ALSO A COUPLE OF DOWELS AND ORINGS BY THE OIL PUMP JUST BECAREFUL AND DONT DROP THEM IN ENGINE.
I ACTUALLY ENJOYED DOING IT, YOU WILL LEARN ALOT. IF ANYONE HERE READING THIS IS IN ILLINOIS I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HOOK A BROTHER UP!!!!!!!!PEACE OUT
