Regulator/Rectifier **UPDATED WITH PICS** (Not dialup friendly)

RE: Regulator/Rectifier
This is why I love this site.. My charging just went out a few weeks ago myself. Trips mentioned some "gunk" behind the regulator, and I noticed the same thing as well. The thing I'm curious about is, was that Gunk Black??? I know the smell of burned electronics, and it smelled like a blown cap!! I had black goo oozing out of my regulator and charging was NIL! When I see something of this nature, the first thing that hits my mind is electrical failure, and I have ordered another regulator!! Geeze they are expensive.. Now ya'll have me thinking that my regulator isn't bad, just needed to be grounded and cleaned properly. The ground wire was a little corroded, but not bad. When I see electrical fluid like that, and no charging my immediate thoughts go to "Faulty device"!! See its 11pm now, and I'm thinking of going out there and finding out!! Hehehehe... It's ya'll fault!

I agree with Firefox11. I can't tell ya how many times I couldn't get right to sleep and come over to the computer, read the forum(s), and the next thing ya know, i'm sitting on a cart next to something on my bike at 1:00 in the morning do something to the bike that I read about on here.

I am in the same problem, my cbr 1000f, sometimes doesn t start, all the charge is gone, now i am ordering a new rectifier, i cleaned the generator, the starter, the wiring, and my cbr started to zumbing when si at 3000 rpm, now i am not sure if the problem is gettin worse or should i have to wait for the new piece.,

If you continue to ride your bike with a blown regulator, you may fry your stator (alternator/generator) wiring - you can't see it and the bike will still charge for about 6 months then the reg rec will go again, because the resistance in the charging coils in the stator is wrong. I made this mistake so I suggest you wait for the new reg rec to arrive. Be sure to keep your battery water levels correct Battery water will boil away quickly with a blown reg rec.

Thank you very much Shadow, i will wait for the new piece, what do you think abot the noise, do you think is normal or i should take out again the generator and see wath is hapenning, the zumbing starts at 3000 and stops at 3500 or 4000 rpm, i ll wait your sugestions because as you know it is hard to remove that piece. thank you very much for the advise.
