Hi Guys,
My rectifier is cooking my battery and would like to know if you have to replace with year specific part. I have an 87.
Thank for any help with this.
Cheers, Robbie

You can check the part number in the Workshop Manuals in the fiche section for your year, then check the part number for say a 94 model and see if they are the same.

I wouldn't replace with a Honda part
1 Price - stupid
2 Delivery could be up to 4 weeks from Japan
3 No guarantee so if it's DOA then you're out of luck.
4 Starts charging around 3000 revs

I'd consider a reg rec from Electrex - a number of us have the
1 Half the price of a Honda part
2 Delivery in one week
3 Guaranteed for a full 12 months
4 Starts charging at 1500 revs

All in all a far better manufactured unit with a big heatsink.
They have a unit for your bike, but you'll need longer mounting bolts

regulator rectifierregulator/rectifier fits Honda CBR1000 Hurricane electrical parts for motorcycles Electrex World

You'll pay 95 pounds - no v.a.tax.

To answer your question, the part numbers for the r/r for first gen bikes is different than those for 2nd and 3rd gen bikes. Thus it would seem that you'd need an r/r for a first gen (87-89) bike.

Another +1 for elecrtex mine is working great and hardly even gets warm, plus it comes with 12 months warranty and mine arrived in less than 12 hours from ordering. will take a bit longer to NZ tho
If you have trouble getting an electrex tourmax also make good reg/recs.

You could also call japbikedismantlers in New Zealand. Owner is Darryl and he's a good man and may have a reg/rec for you

* Japanese Motorcycle Parts & Japanese Motorbike Spares From Japanese Motorcycle Dismantler. JAPANESE Motorbike Salvage. We Recycle Motocross, Scooters, Offroad, Dirt, Road, Commuter & Farm bikes. Motorcycle Wrecker, Home Of Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki &

I'd still buy one from electrex, but at least then you can ride immediately........
