Default Rear Shock is Sad, Any Help Out there???

I've got a 1987 1000f and am really pleased especially since it was only $1380
The only thing lagging behind in satisfactory perfomance is the rear shock.
I have searched the forum for rear shock interchangeability but can't find any solid help.
Can anyone suggest another model's shock that is known to fit with little or no modifications?
If you know of a former post that answers this need, I would be thankful for your guidance to it.

Thanks and happy hurricane,
Joseph

I sent my OEM shock to Lindemann Engineering, on advice from many sport-tourers, http://www.le-suspension.com/Contact.htmlfor a rebuild. Cost was about $150 shipped. Fast turn around, they had the shock for 48 hours. I am very pleased with the result.

Hey, Thanks,
That looks like a good option I didn't know existed.
It also sounds like the best choice yet.

I appreciate it,
Joseph
