Default Radiator Flush

Any ideas on when you should do a radiator flush mine is just starting to get hot when sitting int raffic but on the open road she comes back down to 1/4 do you think I need to drain and refill or leave well enough alone as the collant is still a strong green colour

I change mine every 2 years. Before refilling, flush out preferably using a hose pipe via the top of the radiator (where the radiator cap fits).

Mine does the same so I would leave it alone and let the fan do the work, I know that at first it seems a bit worrying, but you'll get used to it. At least its not air cooled, like some

Mine does it too. On the highway, or up it on a bendy country road mine runs just below 1/4 on the guage. But by the time I get up my driveway, through two gates, and into the shed the fan is on and there is much bubbling into the reservoir. However the temp never gets even close to the high end and the fan turns on and off so I think it's ok.
I asked a Honda mechanic about it and he said there is only a few degrees between 1/4 reading and the fan coming on. A digital guage along with a clock (lots of school zones here) are the only things I with my bike had. Well along with adjustable front suspension!
Dave.

Further to my question asking everyone about the heat of their motor I found a very interesting thing last night I remembered this heating issue increased a few weeks ago when I took my air filter out and cleaned it so I took the cover off only to find the clip which holds the air cleaner in place was not in correctly and allowing air to go straight into the carbys not via the inside of the filter so placed the clip in properly and now the temp doesnt go anywhere near what it was going to plus it starts a whole lot easier so that solved two of my issues. Hope this might help someone else out.

Think you qualify for the longest sentence on the forum!

I always find that having removed the air filter, it is pretty difficult to get the airbox cover back on without moving the filter. It usually takes me a few minutes the work the cover back into the right place. Getting access to all the screws is no picnic either.
