Pulse generator switch from twin to single
I recently bought a job lot of CBR1000F’s, some running, some not. One has had its engine swapped out for a newer block, think it’s a hurricane. The problem I have aside from other reconfigurations is the pulse generator on the newer engine has a twin pick up & the older one (current loom) runs a single pick up.
I have a spare so can switch this out but my quandary is, Will I bugger the timing up when I switch it out for the older one? Also, in the older engines, they have a dry bay, whereas the one with the twin pickups has oil inside. Is this supposed to be the case or do I have a split gasket in there somewhere?
thanks all.

I would start by looking up the engine code to confirm exactly what you're looking at. Depending on the serial number you will have either one or two pickups, with later models having one, and earlier models having two. I would think that you'd be fine using either, but you'd want to confirm on the fiche that there's no incompatibilities with the spark unit or other components downstream of the pulse gen
Also make sure you have the correct pulse rotor or else things could get weird
Either way I think it should be pretty dry. What's the rationale for the swap?
