1987 CBR1000f Colour Scheme
I am restoring a 1987 1000f, UK version. The colour scheme is the mainly white one with a red top to the tank. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the white pin striping on the red tank, i.e. the thickness of each of the three lines, and the distance between each of them? Many thanks.

Funny you should ask. I just restriped my filler pieces today. I found that the aftermarket multistripe kit with 1/16" and 1/8" stripes was almost perfect, but I had to cut the widest stripe out manually
From the top it goes:
2 mm pinstripe (1/16" is pretty damn close)
7 mm gap
3.5 mm pinstripe (1/8" is pretty damn close)
5 mm gap
5 mm pinstripe
1.5 mm gap
Hope that helps

Yes but no!
You are looking for the width of white stripping between the red where he is describing the gaps between the red stripping. That's the same thing.
So, if you lay down red first then you need to tape off for the white stripping.
Or, you lay down white first, you need to tape off for red stripping.
Either way, he has given you what you need.
However, I believe he described it backwards from your thinking.
The biggest strip will be at the top with the smallest gap between it and the red tank.
The strips get small and the gaps get bigger as you descend.
Perhaps he should said,
From Red tank descending,
2 mm white gap
7 mm red strip
3.5 white gap
5 mm red stripe
5 mm white gap
1.5 mm red stripe

Oh yeah sorry if I was unclear. The scheme on my bike is inverted as secondary color (red) fades into black primary color. Here's a pic of my diy job. Tank is OEM finish, and the red filler pieces beside the cowl carry the same pattern. Again, I used the Prostripe kit which is good enough for the naked eye imo
