You are absolutely right. (I'm not fighting you I sware ) It all just comes down to what your bike needs/likes. We would agree on that, right?

Here down in adelaide it has gotten down to 111 cents/litre (106c/l for the ethanol stuff)
Very nice, much better than those 149c/l days. I am still trying to figure out which fuel my bike likes best. Im testing between unleaded std(91 octane), premium(96 octane) and the 10% ethanol blend(95 octane). Has anyone had anyproblems with used the 10% ethanol blend as of yet?

I ran 95-E10 and the bike ran well, it didn’t like premium, I have a carbi issue, so the bike is booked in for Monday, going to also get them to do the Balance adjustment to reduce the bike rattle.
This also means that I can’t really tell properly which fuel these bike like the best.

Also remember Premium is denser. Your jets are designed for a certain density of fuel. When a denser fuel is going through the same size whole then the bike is running richer. The reason some people find that it feels better is because most people run ther veichles cold and dont get a chance to get properly warm before they arrive at work. With a slightly richer mixture it runs better when cold.

But how well it does and doesn't work depends on what rpm and engine load we run it at. As we all use the bike differently and are different weights and use differnt rev ranges we are bound to have differnt experiences with fuel.

The only way it to test different fuels under the exact same speeds, loads temps etc.

Yes, I agree with you too. I just think that if you are not experiencing pre-ignition, there is no need to reduce your flash point and burn rate. There are some hot days in traffic where I get a little pinging and wished I had a little retardant in the tank.

One more point: Timing also effects fuel choice.

look up the petrol companies and search for their MSDS's on their fuels.
i ran shell in mine and it went crap, then ran caltex and bingo, she ran like a demon!!

the MSDS's read something like this

shell contains a bare minimum of 60% unleaded petroleum and up to 40% additives eg benzine etc.

caltex contains a bare minimum of 98% unleaded petroleum and up to 2% benzine

dunno exactly what shell uses to bump it up but dont care either, my baby runs best on caltex unleaded, and idles rough on any premium.
wit shell, she she stalls!

Wow, you would think they would have a better minimum than 60% unleaded fuel, always been sus about those shell fuels. Ive been using that vortex 95 fuel in my bike (think its caltex) and it runs much nicer and and has more power than when i was running it one fuel i got from a liberty independant seller. Im not sure about those guys either.
