Dad, you going to be at the august 11th track day on FUSA?
At this point, no. If something changes on that, I'll post up.

That's the 11th and there are three in a row at Beaverun, 12th thru 14th. That's hometown for me. I expect to be out there for those days, working or just having fun. I have picked up a 636 that I'm prepping for a track bike and will be anxious to get it and me dialed in to each other. Hopefully those three days will be productive.

I will be at Pocono this Friday, then Monday at Loudon, then the 5th and 6th at VIR. My next scheduled Pocono dates after this Friday are two Saturdays, September 9th and October 13th. Maybe you'll be ready for another one by then.

Well,

I signed up for a track day! Woohooo! There should be about 4 or 5 of us going. We are going to FUSA on September 9th. I signed up for the ART Basic course. My friend, whom I ride with, Dad met back on July 14th. He too is going. My other friend is a newbie to track days as well as I. I looked over the information on team promotion's website and took the plunge.

I plan on taking the CBR1KF. After hearing from my buddy who has already gone, and combining that with what my plans are for maintinence and upgrades to the bike, I am confident it will do just fine. Especially after hearing how dad and R1000 have already done so with theirs. I don't mind looking like odd man out as I'm not there for that reason.

I would greatly appreciate hearing any more information about others experiences with regard to any of the information above, gear, prep, etc... I would be thankful.

The looking odd factor is nothing to care about, running a bike like this on a racetrack will be recognized very positively by the majority. It's probably only the newbies, thinking a modern bike equals to fast driving, that could have some thoughts, but that could change quite soon... What I found in the slowest curves was that the bike become a little bit unstable and the front wheel began to weave slowly. That was during the two warm up laps, with the instructor in front driving av supermotard. When running at my own pace with more throttle opening directly from leaning down, this phenomen dissapered completly and the bike felt solid and agile as usual. I did most of this twisty track on second gear, and only used 3:rd and 4:th on the home straight. As I've learned from some active road driving, the bike will take a hughe amount of power also in curves due to the weight and smooth power delivery. If the tyres are good. The heavy front also seems to help keep it planted, or ease the bikes overall balance, and will not get loose if unloaded by powering the rear and keep a reasonable line thrue curves. You might consider observing the tyre temperature after each session, and cool down if it the rear tyre becomes very hot.

Edit: Some of the Swedish spelling mistakes corrected...

But, how about the tires? How do you like them? Is the 180/55 better for you?
Now that I have the back of my bike opened up ( cut off fender ) I want to fill it also as well as handling.
My brother's ZZR/1200 has the Roadtech 120/70 front and 180/55 rear.

How about that truck in the background? What a contrast![sm=gears.gif]

Yea I felt the pressure from the truck behind . I used 120/70/17 front and 180/55/17 rear, havn't had anything other on this bike and will stay with that. I've always felt them as easy-turning, and when the after hand somewhat flattened mid sections, caused by all commuting on straight roads, where restored, I felt absolutely comfortable with these tyres on track. Until the rear slided at the last session in a severe curve due to previous overheating. The roadtech Z6's will come on next week, they are the same dimensions.
