New rider - 1st bike CBR1000f '92 - any advice?
Sprock - Thanks for the welcome, already found lots of interesting stuff here
Steve Zodiac - Thanks for your reply. Lookede up the pegs and have odered some, i suspect that extra inch will indeed make a difference. Loving the seat idea, im thinking that could be one for me to look into as i'm 6'1
can i ask how you went about it please? Loving the pic of your bikes intruments and dials - now that looks *clean*.
Montana Matt - Hey there! I fully understand what you mean when you say "trouble"
The bike just feels like it has no limits and for a new rider that is quite scarey, i would imagine the moment you show this bike no respect then it's gonna teach you a lesson :-(
Yeah, i've done about 300 miles over the last couple of days and leaning into corners more and getting more confident.
I rode to manchester airport a couple of days ago and the motorway in rush hour was not fun at all but it was something i had to do so i just got on with it
600 miles? Wow - that is a *roadtrip*!!
Thanks for the tips
Wooferdog - i can understand why you say that, awesome bikes
TimBucTwo (love the name) Yeah i guess i just need to get used to being in the riding position. Cheers
Hawkwind - I'm guessing you know the dance on most things bike related, so thanks for taking the time to reply.
yeah i'm in the UK, a little townjust north of Leeds and we've had some sunny days this week so had time to get out here and there on the bike with perfect conditions
Yes i am getting a little used to the weight but as you said i suspect if you mess up then she's just gonna go over and there aint a right lot you can do about it
Slow manoeuvering is getting better, still cant quite believe how bloody heave she/it/he is
Yeah i experienced the "drifting" when i first took her out, all she seemed to want to do was go in a straight line
Getting alot better with leaning and cornering but NOT getting over-confident
I think i'm just kinda holding on for dear life with regards to the grips
I was on the M62 yesterday morning and just cruising at 70 but i found i was unintentionaly gripping realy hard and yeah you're right i don't tend to do that in my Lexus
Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome
CBR900RR93 - Yeah i'm gonna look into that, i'm sure there must be one near Leeds.
Dram - Cheers matie
Oh and here she is -

Thanks for the replies everyone and i look forward to beinga part of the forum family x

May see you over at Squires sometime.
By the way, your CBR1000f looks fantastic!!!
Cheers, Steve

Hahaha, we're near enough neighbours!!
So i need to be looking on ebay for a seat i'm guessing and i'll use the place in Bolton as it's only a short drive away.
Actually you hit the nail on the head with tyre pressure. I rode the bike back from Belfast as i dj over there on a Thursday night (it was the WORST JOURNEY of my life, overly heavy rucksack cutting in my shoulders, aching legs as it was my first time on the bike and the carbs were blocked with crap so it had no power and wouldn't go over 60 and died in 5th or 6th, set of at 2am fri moring from Belfst and got home at midday minus 2 hours for ferry, i had to stop every 20 mins cos of the aches and pains and would jusy fall on the ground and lay there ready to burst into tears
, but i made it home) anyways checked the tyre pressure the next day and the front was seriously under-inflated - hence it just wanted to follow the line :-/
Next time ya over at Squires on a sunday give us a shout and we'll hook up for that drink and maybe a pie

Oh and thanks for the comment re my bike, must be a thing from my past - i must have seen one flash past me at some point and i thought "wow, that look COOOOOOL" as i still think that every time i see one

Welcome to the forum Scott.
That is one very nice looking bike you have there.
As the other posters have said, feel free to ask any questions, most of us have 'been there, done that' with bikes and if we don't know the answer will usually go out of our way to help solve the problem anyway.
Cheers, SB
Looking in to it now
