The other motor has been sitting outside for a while I guess uncovered without carbs Smh. I'm out of this game. Carry on fellas! I will keep my eyes open for another one!

Can't a weak alternator damper cause low compression results? You can also test if the problem is the rings by spraying a little oil into the sparkplug hole to seal the rings, and test each cylinder again.

Nothing to do with power. Its all good. I'm looking at sealing up the deal on a cherry 06 1000rr

Putting an 88 engine into a 90 chassis is a pita. Water pipes on the 88 are behind the head, 90 has them on the side so you need to be creative there. The ignition is also different. You will have to fit the 90s single pulser signal generator along with its 9 pin rotor into the 88 engine. You also will need the 90s front sprocket cover with speedo drive to go onto the 88 engine. It is possible...ask me how I know

Oh yes...you also need the 88s carbs etc. since the later models were a bit smaller and won't fit into the inlet rubbers properly

and you need to trim the frame for the 88s water pipes to behind the head to clear...you'll soon see the two bodywork lugs that are the problem. If you cut the front half of them off you can get the pipes in and still have enough to bolt the bodywork to. All in all a hell of a job. Sorry for multiple posting, keep forgetting all the bridges I have crossed
