Default New bars and preload adjuster

The Bird is undergoing some mods to meet the phenomenal ergo of Hurricane's. Today I installed VFR 800 bars, which rise and backthe bars by 50 mm's.I also fitted peload adjusters on top of the fork tubes. The chassie is now asI want with a new adjustablerear shock and areworked fork and tuned to spec, next step is to mount aYoshimura race exhaust and a ported cylinder head that will come in february.

Very nice. So I'm guessing the rideing posture on the Bird or more "sporty" then the Cane by default?

Yes the Bird has a much more lean forward positioncompared tothe Cane. The VFR bars is a common mod to Birds, where people use the newerVFR Vtech bars that have the correct hole diameter, 43 mm. Those are rare to find and very expensive new, and used. In Sweden they cost almost $ 550 at the Honda steelers which is real cheep [X(]. I was lucky and got a pair of VFR -98 bars in exhange for a set of fork springs, but those bars are 41 mm's. I enlarged the hole from 41 to 43 mm's by abreak cylinder-honing tool that made a perfect fit.

Will the mod work on a Cane? You have to check if VFR bars are higher and more reared than Cane bars, unfortunatelyI don’t have the Cane in the garage and can compare. I wished my wife would have liked to have it, but shehave little interest to ride a bike and theBird isbetter for my needs except for the ergo which is real fine but not as perfect as the Cane. From what I can feel now the sitting position on the Bird is exactly as it was on the Cane, except for the higher pegs on the Bird, which suits me fine since I’m only 175 cm’s tall. I believe the Cane has 41 mm fork legs, so that part will probablymatch the same VFR bars that I used without machining.

As R1000 wrote, the bars he´s got for his ´Bird will fit and give a Hurricane a more leanback riding position. This was a mod that a guy working at a bike shop in Stockholm, Sweden recommended me when I was interested in buying a -94 `Cane he was selling. Note that this is the 41 mm bars (VFR 750) and not 43 mm like from the VFR 800.

That’s good information for the 'Cane community. A more upright riding position will certainly make the bike more comfy when touring and more maneuverable in town. When the horn grows, it’s just to tuck in and make one as small as possiblebehind the fairingas usual.

...I also fitted peload adjusters on top of the fork tubes...
What bike were the preload adjusters from, or are they aftermarket?
