I used the Ram mounts and powerlet outlets. The cig lighter set up sux. I mounted a fuse box and use a 1 or 1.5 amp fuse for the GPS. Here's some info. I have the Garmin Quest and the 2610 which is the same size as yours BTW.

Captain, thanks for the pics. I got a question on the 90° power connector, did you use the Powerlet right angle plug then cut the wire from the quest and run it into that?

Yep that's exactly what I did. The Quest (and the 2610-2720) MC mounting kit comes with a fused wire. I cut it short of the fuse and am using a blade fuse in my fuse block instead of the inline fuse on the power cord. Works great!

Ok, since I didn't order the MC power kit, I'll just cut the automotive kit that comes with the 2610 and splice it into the powelet.

Everything is scheduled to come in on Monday. Funny thing is, Tuesday is my last day...oh the pranks on the owner I'm thinking of!

If you aren't using the MC kit how are you going to planning on mounting it? The nice thing about the MC mounting kit is it is secure and it holds the power cable in so it won't vibrate out. That and you will still be able to use the unit in your car. I would consider the MC kit if I were you.
