Default Need suggestions on where to put something

Ok, I've got a month off coming up (actually, I'm just quitting my job for a month) and I'm going to be doing some long distance rides. I'm about to order a Garmin 2720 gps for the rides, but I need to hook up a cigarette lighter somewhere on the bike. I already have a 12v wire not being used sitting next to the stock fuse block (I recently installed an extra fuse box where the tool kit goes). I thought about mounting it facing off the sides of the speedo housing, but my levers come too close (the power cable for the GPS sticks out too far). The only other place I can think of is to make a custom mount on either side of the ignigtion.

The panel on side of the fuel tank could be an alternative.

This is how I hooked my Navman up . Navman said their product wasnt suitable for a motor bike HAH it is and a useful tool I can tell you, hope this gives you some ideas. The power outlet is a Marine outlet so its Stainless Steel.

Its part of the fun of long distance rides, using a paper map and getting lost?

Trips that is so true!!

Myself and 4 friend all different bikes and makes, 10 days around europe just using a map.
went from Belguim to France,Spain,Andorra and even managed to squeeze the Catalunya MotoGp
in. Did over 3000 miles and an 11 hour day in the saddle on the penultimate day in France.

The previous time the Lads went away the GPS system go the lost, so we banded them. well not really
Just took the P*** until he turned it off.

i use my xda2 in my top pocket linked to headphones in my lid n bluetooth receiver on my fairing, works a treat.
xda is powered by one of those battery extender thingies that gives about 12 hrs use or can charge thru my marine (waterproof)dc out socket connected to bike battery.
dont like to mount xda on bike, would be worried itd fly off /get snatched by pedestrian mugger.lol.

Actually, I already have a route penned out on a paper map:

I would like the GPS to help me find places to stay when I'm out in the boonies

Thats not the boondocks. Come to Australia and see the GA.F.A. - Great Australian **** All. Then you know the boondocks.
