misfires after 6000RPM
Need some help with a misfire after 6000RPM. Some history, just cleaned the carbs because my idle was gone, but it would still scream to 10,000RPM without a problem. I never removed the carbs from their rack mount, just removed needles and float bowl, than compressed air and a lot of carb cleaner. Idle is fine now but starts to break up at 6000RPM. Need some ideas. thanks

"A lot of carb cleaner" ..........how much ?
You have to go real easy with that stuff
especially if it gets near rubber.
it plays hell with the rubber diaphragms
and I'm guessing you may now have some
holes in some of 'em

Hi,
I have pulled the diaphragms and they did get soaked with carb cleaner. I inspected them with a magnifying glass and no holes. But it seems they may have gotten stretched out, I would assume the outside bead of the diaphragms should line up with the grove in the top of the carb? Now they seem larger in diameter. Never changed them in the past, so I’m not sure. Thanks.
