Bummer R1000 but as you can see we have all done it!!! My next door neighbour used to warm his V8 up every morning, didn't really bother me but one morning I decided to ride the CBR to work, had it idling on the side stand on the drive which has the slightest of slopes to it, (reasonbly noisy muffler), went inside to get the helmet came out and the bike had inched forward and fallen over, when the neighbour came out I was trying to pick it up, he must have thought what is that ******** up to!!! Rode to work only to discover it had landed on a small stone and cracked one of the alloy covers and caused a rather bad oil leak, that one cost me a few bucks!!!

When I bought my first CBR1000F, back in 1987, I went for a ride on some of the faster roads north of London. I stopped for a rest, put her on the side stand, stood back to admire her, and she obliged by taking a bow - slowly down on to her left side. I'd parked her on a slope that wouldn't have bothered my previous bike. And this when she was only a couple of hours old. The only damage was to the clutch lever. I had to lift her up myself as there was no one else around (spared my blushes).

For the next three hours I rode her with a clutch lever that had been reduced to a length of 3cm. I was just able to use my index and middle fingers. And it was all stop-start riding in London traffic, visiting all the bike shops to see if I could get a replacement lever. I eventually found a cheap copy lever (for a VFR I think it was) which I fitted at the roadside. It was black, the other lever was silver, that's what I call customised!
