Hey guys there was a thread awhile back about aftermarket replacement body parts and there was a poll attatched to it asking if you would replace your bodies.

I've been digging through the archives and just cannot find it. Anyone remember it? Or maybe the poster of the thread may remember it and repost it? It was a company in the UK area if I remember. I am just waiting on one last part to come in and I'm doing a chit load of stuff... my electrical debacle (battery, reg/rec, harness, stator, ect), the clutch, cct, ect. Stand by for tons of pics and how to's

With all that getting done, the wife said my Christmas present this year could be some plastic surgery. I'm gonna get a new body. My body parts look good at a distance but up close she's riddled with cracks, broken off tabs, and rubbed off paint from her previous owner beating the **** out of her.

It was a little steep on the cost, but if I'm gonna do this major job(s) its ALL gonna get done.

This ring a bell anywhere with anyone?

Michael - you can repair your fairings and it's not difficult to replace broken tabs with the right stuff, and a little patience.
Contact Bluebeard - he did a bang-up job on his fairings after whacking a tree.
I don't know of any company that manufactures fairings except the 87/88 models and they aren't cheap.
Let us know what you need and we'll find good ones for you - 91 model, right ?
I'd fix them, though.

I would, too. Bluebeard did do a great job on his, and it sounds like yours aren't in that bad of shape. I'd probably just try to cut and fill them, and then repaint. Definitely worth a go...considering the cost of plastics and the fact that yours aren't trashed.
Plus it will give you a chance to do another write-up...

Thanks for the info Pete, I found the air-tech one and it was a bust the 87-88 was all they carried. I think you may have hit it on the head with the fairings.net one. Actually that looks real familiar from that post and I am going to bookmark it this time.

Shad I know this is gonna cost me an arm and a leg but I really want to do this right, and I'm tired of looking at red rub through from a half assed paint job and all the stress fractures. As for parts... I am going to replace both main body panels and will buy them new. Both left and right mid-side panels are cracked to chit where the "vents" are if you will, so I'm gonna have to find them (seems like EVERY other one is cracked up too out there). My tail is decent one small crack but should be just fine.

I was planning on selling her current panels to help recoup the cost. The wife gave me the blessing and I just want to take her up on it. If were gonna keep her around we're just gonna do this right.

OH btw, I picked up that reg/rec from eletrex. Spot on, real good folks. Thanks.

New panels from Honda will probably cost you more than your whole bike is worth !
I'll see what I can find............................but brace yourself for a shock.............
FWIW I rebuilt the body panels on a GPZ900R that had pieces broken out on the fairings, cracks etc - when finished they looked like new panels.
Cracks round the screw holes is from the wrong bolts being used, and the panels overtightened.......If you buy the right bolts, it'll not happen again.............

The vents are easy to repair.

You need a tube of PERMAPOXY - great stuff for filling and sticking bits of fairing together.

Find a local hardware shop and get some lengths of 1/8" diameter steel rod / piano wire.

Cut the rod in to vent length pieces. Shape the pieces of rod slightly to fit in to the back of the vent bars

use the permapoxy to stick and seal the rods in to the back of the vent bars.
