Default Fuel tank clean up

Im planning to drain the tank from fuel, is there any kind of solvent I could use after draining the fuel for clean up? Also the insulation under the tank is really dirty and in bad shape. Is it safe to take it off completely? I seen tanks on ebay that don’t have it but the tank also sits on the engine with probably an inch of space. Will there be any change in performance if gas changes temperature? Thanks

Either replace with new material or refit the old one.....if you discard it, at high temperatures you may have fuel atomisation, at which point the bike won't run. In extremes the fuel could boil in the tank - not to be recommended................you could make a new one out of a space blanket and a woolen rug or some carpet underfelt.........

Another thing I was thinking is that you could probably make a pretty good insulated layer out of thin insulation and foil tape.
If you know an HVAC or electrical guy you could probably score some for free. Just cut the insulation to fit, and then tape both sides and tape it in.

I did a good clean up of the exterior and a little fixing of the insulation and it actually looks good. No need to look for electrician. oh wait that would be me lol...

Haha! See, I knew you could count on an electrical guy....

I guess many electricians may not have that stuff on hand? Ours do because they install a good bit of heat trace.
Anyway, glad it worked out.
