Indeed the FZ is a detuned older R1 engine, Well I did 40 miles on her last night the first chance I've really had to get her out , all I can say is WOW,

Thoroughly enjoyed it, a lot more manoeuvrable and so much easier me personally to ride, it does lack a little low down power but nothing to moan about, when it hits 6K just hold on, this thing don't half go
It's a very revvy engine just like the R1, if you have ever driven a car with a lightened flywheel then this is how I would say the difference between the FZ and the CBR feels.

If it's this good standard then I can't wait for it to be Ivanized

First impressions.......................... I love it.

Seat height is:

CBR 780mm
FZ1 820mm

No idea on the bars but definitely more upright seating position, pegs are still quite high, not as high as the CBR but I've kept my buell pegs in case but we will see how it pans out also thinking of trying some 1" up 1" back risers as well but that would be just to fine tune it a little.

karlo,

I know we all have our own tastes in bikes and performance, but if it makes you feel any better, my FZ carbs are stock and it does just fine for me. From what I understand, the Ivan kit really does wonders though.

I did go one tooth down on the front sprocket though. And let me tell you, if you are into performance, it really changes the bike! I have to roll on the throttle to keep the front end down. Even rolling on it, once it hits 60 mph in first gear, the front wheel starts lifting.
One day I was riding 2 up with the wife and hit about 90mph in 2nd, and the front end started lifting! Thats a little much for my old ***! LOL

Hey:

@Bickelbok:" I could be wrong, but I think there are a few country's that limited the performance on Fazers. Again, Im not sure on that.
I have raced my Hurricane against my FZ and against another FZ my brother owns numerous times. It's not even close at all"

I would like a few details on this, as I have put a few of those on trailer when they first came out and a few newer ones(It was the rider on those), with my unmodded CBR. Is yours a Cali model by any chance as they are dirt slow compared to a reg non Cali Cane. And where do you shift? If its not in the upper band (10.5 -12k rpm is where its at on a Cane), its not all it could be and thats where the serious power is at.

**UPDATE**

After putting in a fair few miles on this machine I can honestly say, fantastic, I have regained the urge to be out as much as I manage, I've done more miles in a month than I have in the previous year on the CBR.

I can't wait to get this machine "Ivanised" It is truly superb and I love it I'm even planning a Wales trip for a week in April next year.
