Default intermittent headlight

have an 87 hurricane 1000 with a headlight that comes and and goes. i suspect its a loose wire but i thought mabye someone has had this problem also? ideas, suggestions? thanks

Probably just a fuse is corroded or you have an intermittent earth. Clean the fuse, then try running a second earth wire, see if it helps.

Does it affect both the high beam and low beam? If it affects both, then I'd suspect the wiring between the starter switch and the dimmer switch. If it's only afftecting high or low, the I'd be looking from the dimmer switch to the headlight.

does it on high and low beam. the wiring goes from the starter switch to the dimmer?
good to know, ill check there, and the fuses also, i suspected a bad ground wire myself. thanks

I just went through the same problem on my 87. I took my switch apart and cleaned the contacts and have not had a problem since, just have to be careful, there is a tiny ball bearing that likes to fly out when it is taken apart.
