Default Insurance Premiums

I just got off the phone with my agent and I am in shock. I have owned a '90 1000F for 3 years, and in that time, I have carried the bare-bones minimum coverage (liability) because they want roughly $2K/yr to insure it! [sm=insomnia.gif]

That isn't what shocks me.

What shocks me is that I can put full coverage on my new bike ('02 Kawasaki ZRX1200R) for 1/4 of that amount! [sm=wootwoot.gif]

I should have bought a naked bike years ago.

BTW, I think I have decided to keep the 1000F - it's just too damn pretty to get rid of.

Not sure who insures bikes in America but here in Australia most people use Shannons. The only problem there is once you make a claim they won't touch you. Then you need to go to another company I think ar called Insure My Bike or Insure My Ride. They are cheaper yet owned by Shannons....so I'm told by others in the know.

Why is that, Trips?
I thought everybody could get an insurance, just a matter of money or are there some special rules in your country ?

My bike's fullinsurance cost about 650 us dollar a year.Next year it goes down140 bucks. In two years the bike is 20 years old then it costs about 200 us dollars, fully insured .They call it a "classic" insurance.

I've lost my licence too many times. When they asked me to list my offenses in the last 5 years I asked for more paper.

But what suks is that in 20 years of riding/driving on the road I have never made an insurance claim, and yet they keep insuring soccer mums in SUV's.
