Inner handle bar weight.

RE: Inner handle bar
Just a warning about the slide hammer. The inner bar end is locked in place with two tabs which lock into two holes in the handle bar under the grip or throttle depending on the side (or at least this is the case on my 87). If your bike has them, these tabs are part of what at first glance appears to be a shim around the inner bar end. There should be two small tabs protruding out of the end of the bar which must be compressed to move the lock tabs out of their holes. If you can compress the outer tabs and turn the shim arrangement a few degrees the inner locking tabs will be displaced from the holes in the bars and then you can get busy with the slide hammer.
After nearly 20 years in the bars mine were no fun to remove!

RE: Inner handle bar
Since you brought this back up... My honda dealer has that inner piece for @ $25.
I didn't think it was worth it so I just drilled and tapped the remaining piece
and put on a new bar end, the missing section left enough room for the rubber
bushing to be compressed to hold the entire assembly in the tube with out
using that pain in the a$$ lock ring.
