Maybe Honda decided to change the front sprocket down a tooth before mass production without changing the speedo-gears resulting in this delema. I usually watch the tach anyways and not the speedometer.

I often wondered whyluck smiled so often when the local HP gave me a passwhen they caught me running 80 +. Then a GPS indicated 80+ was really 77 or so.I haven't counted teeth yet to see if that is what's throwing the speedo off, but will when the stock 17/42 combo goes on tomorrow and the old ones are counted to seewhat I have now. It would be the pits to go out thinking there's a 5 to 6 mile per hour error and find out it has disappeared.

Your readingof 70 mph @5000rpm is the same as my readings. I have a V&H ignition module that is supposed to give more acurate than stock tach readings. The stock module read 12.5% higher.

Are you saying there's a good chance Im actually running about 5600 rpm at 70 actual?
If so, this sure is getting confusing!!
