Question

Harry T, there is a post about using heated kit in traffic by a guy called Tony Dillworth - "my almost perfect CBR1000F" You can Google it on his website - it's not a Forum post.
He states that in New York traffic, with two heated vests and gloves, he often had to get a jump start from Taxis...................hmmmmmmmm
My bike's stator puts out 25 amps BTW (at least, that's the rating)
I would imagine if you had a regulator like mine, which gives me 13.8V at 1400 RPM you'd be OK, but the standard one doesn't give enough charge below 3000RPM.

If of course it's for touring and long distances, scratch all the above.....

Thanks Peter,

Found the site, he was using gerbring(sp) stuff and two sets of gloves and vests would have been about 16 amps.
Having said that I am not going to get the gloves (read a dissapointing review) and have gone with a vest which uses 4.3 amps, so hopefully wont be too bad.

I will of course feedback here with the results. I will also be getting one of those voltmeter display thingies you posted awhile back to keep an eye on things.

My commuting in mainly freeway stuff and I tend to not get caught up traffic.

Yes I am getting old maybe, but the bloody cold here means I am parking the bike up for 3-4 months extra when I could be having fun - so hoping I can get away with using this vest.

BTW

This guy accepted $93 US using "Make me an Offer" ;-)

Just paid for it (Ebay kindly gave me a 10% discount voucher!)

Hey Harry 10/10 for dedication there mate!!

I'm riding through the winter too , but I can pick and choose my days as it's just fun riding , not commuting. I don't have a problem with my body getting cold but my hands get pretty numb from the cold!! Maybe I should buy some winter gloves.

Mind you I don't do a lot of miles on the motorway , I bet the constant wind blast freezes your chuff

Get some foodworkers plastic gloves and pull them on over your normal gloves.
You'll be pleasantly surprised and it's a cheap as chips solution................
