Here we go again. Alternator Chain Damper/ Chain Noise.
Some time ago I had to change the Alternator Chain Damper on my CBR1000F. Wasn't much fun but pulled it off and got away with a slightly worn chain- seemed like it had one more click left on the tensioner and soon after riding it again the tensioner must have done its job and the noise went away.
Sold that bike a couple of weeks ago and registered my much nicer and lower km CBR and within a week have the same slow starting symptoms and far worse chain noise- can clearly hear it while riding along.
The reason for this post is- how serious is Alternator Chain noise? Is it just an annoyance or will it do damage? My plan is to change damper and assess the need for a chain then. Thanks for any advice.
