Default Chain noise

This is the first time I have ran a RK XW-ring 520 Chain. I have noticed a "whine" under acceleration and steady speed but not when coasting. Is this normal for this type of chain?

I also changed the sprockets (vortex -1+2) everything is adjusted to spec and it is just louder then any other chain I have ran before.

Well i had a RK chain for a short time on mine.. Everyone use to tell me it was really noisy and always made a "chainy" noise.. never really heard it myself though.. either way the Chain didnt last long at all, and i always had to adjust it.. It kept stretching every couple weeks.. I eneded up goin back to a DID and have had much better luck

I have the same set up on my bike and I havent notice any abnormal noises from my chain. I had a DID chain before the RK and didnt like it because it made a noise kinda like what your saying. I guess its just something you gotta deal with.

Usually a, "whine" is caused by misalignment.

"Chain noise," and a, "whine" are two different things. Cush drive look okay? Bearings move smoothly? I would inspect the rear-end, if I heard a whine. Check torque specs, etc.

Misalignment would also make sense of the, "only under load," which you say you've experienced. If it doesn't do it when the wheel/chain is under load then there is something out of spec when it is under load making things move around.

Meant to say, "when the chain/wheel ISN'T under load..."

Tension is correct, alignment tabs are right on and a visual looks good. I just give it a few hundred miles to see if it "sets" and quites down(not screaming loud but annoying). I'll keep an eye on the wear just to make sure.
