No but yes. It's apparently the pulse generator that you need to modify.

Didn't want to leave you hanging but I'm heading out the door and will search for that thread when I get back. See if you can search it out before I can.

That's the direction you need to go.

Edit: I'm still looking for the thread on the swap but found that PMCG [link] did similar swap. You may want to PM him.

This may be the thread TBT was referring to. Though I think it's the other way round for you. Harry was putting a MK1 engine into a MK2 bike.

I ended up just using the newer head so all of my electrical was still 87/88. I know that the 87/88 loom has a fuel pump and a fuel pump relay in it that the 90 will not. I am not sure if this will be an issue or not as the fuel pump and relay are on the same circuit as the ignition. When I get home I will look at the connections from my 95 bottom end and let you know if they are the same as my 87.

^ I think I remember a thread where the pulse generators were different, one vs two on the newer engine. I can't remember the final fix. I don't remember if you were in on that discussion.

I have purchased and 7 pin rotor and double stator from an 87 the 1990 had a 9 pin rotor and single stator when it gets here i will let you know how it worked, if it did of course. Also I think I read something about being able to put an even newer motor in my 88 is this true and how can I find out what works??
