+1 to the Water Wetter. I haven't used it in my bike yet but it goes in all the cars and truck.
I find my temp gauge tends to stay just over 1/2 almost all of the time, and jumps up to about 3/4 in traffic...

If your bike is running at half temp at freeway speeds, check water flow- it shouldn't run more than 1/4 temp. Maybe corroded thermostat.....

Good thinking Sahdow. Mine runs a 1/4 under normal too, 3/4 in traffic.
BB, how did you "cook" your bike?
Now I know what the "F" in 1000F stands for ......Furnance!
