Fuel cap issues
Hello working to get my 88 1000 going after a long storage. I have the gas cap from the tank and it was very hard to get it to snap into place. I was able to finally get it installed and have had it on for a week or 2 . When I took it off I saw the the rubber seal at the gas cap had cracks and was falling apart. Is it possible to get a replacement seal? or do I need to get a new cap?. If that is true, can they swap the lock so the keys will match? Thanks
Hey Randy,
I looked up the fiche - see
Honda Motorcycle Parts 1987 CBR1000F AC FUEL TANK Diagram
and couldn't see a seperate l;isting for the fuel cap rubber.
Doesn't mean you can't get one though, or make one yourself.
Gotta keep these old girls on the road.
Cheers, SB

Think you may find yourself fabricating one from a swimming pool rubber strainer gasket or similar for example
Have not done it yet but I'm in the same situation - I plan to verify this idea at the
weekend.

Noope and my tanks' breather was clogged - there's an optimal location in the fuel tank cap to drill for a breather hole . !
