Default Front end conversion -87

Hi!

Just got my first 1000f (-87), and already ordered my first upgrade parts. Just doing the "pazzo" handles for now, but want a bigger project ready for next winter.
Thanks to this forum I found the parts in minutes Brilliant! Thank you!

Now, I had a 600 cane before, just sold her btw. That guy must be very motivated haha.
I found several how to change the front end to a later model, even as late as late 200X. Small modifications, but otherwise bolt on.

Anyone know of any successfull project with a front end swap on a -87/88 1000f? Considering a front end from a 1000rr 07 ish

Thanx again

Hey:

My 88 has a 01 rc51 sp1 front end on it and a 92 vfr rear, a project that was started before I went overseas again. I chose the rc 51 as I had upgraded my rc track bike to ohlins and had them left over. I used a triple bolt pin from a 86 VFR as the rc pin is short to get it to work.
It also has all mk3 bodywork on it, as I like the looks better and was too hard to find good mk1 body parts when needed. It can be done, as I have done a cbr 929 front on one as well with the same vfr pin to make it a easier swap, you may have issue with the cbr1000 rr as the triple pin needs the larger diameter pin like the rc51 sp2.

no pics till I get back in June, good luck on your project, I know a 90s CBR with GSXR front on it, based in Norfolk so other options work for the cbr even 89 plus is a better front than the 87-88 is.
