Found cracks in the plastic
Today I changed my oil and took some of the plastic off. I looked the plastic panels over front and back. Guess what I found some small cracks that were not there 2 weeks ago. I know she is 23 years old and all, but she is my baby. Well I put some plastic weld on the back side. I will put her back together in the morning and ride.
P.S. I have to say that K&N makes a great oil filter that makes it easy to change.

Fairing cracks ... ...shushhh ...I am in denial !!!
About a month ago I went out and when I got home , one of those mongol clips that join the lower fairing at the front ,in front of the exhaust headers was broken ....every trip out since then , I keep saying to myself ...
* note to self ....fix the dam clips !!! *
...but hey ...yu know how it goes ...shes a bit spread open down below but still ready to roll , so I just keep ripping in ...
Hmm... I think I was just talking about my fairing ?? LOL

Be careful Steve-o. I had a similar problem, and the other two clips let go and I lost my lower left panel complete - never saw it come off, but at least it didn't go under the rear wheel at speed.
I now have new clips(rebuilt) AND I have two sets of bolts with brackets holding the left and right lower panels together, for safety.

I fixed mine after my big step off using a product called "Plastex". The results were mixed so I don't recommend the product. I was however not a total loss. It was great for remodeling tabs & filling holes etc as long as it is reinforced with something else as it is affected by heat & stress. I found that it held together but was unstable. Sometimes it bulges & sometimes it sinks according to the weather???
Plastic weld would be the best way to go.
Steve-O. zip her up mate. Winter's coming & you need to keep her warm down there.
