Default Fork Spacers Missing

I did think of one problem - a previous owner removed the spacers in the forks to drop the front-end down. I'd like to try the bike w/them and I've heard that you can use PVC cut to length as replacement spacers. Is that possible? If so - how long are the OEM ones? What size PVC pipe is ideal? I have some 3/4"(ID) laying around....

Thanks!

I have a '90. The front shock internals were changed in '90 so I can't be sure of the length and since noone seems to know, check into just buying new ones. Those can't cost too much as parts.

I can't imagine what someone was thinking to do that. Are you sure they're missing, because I think it would be sitting on the bottom out spring, no suspension at all. At least on mine I think it would. The spacers on mine are about 5" long, approximately the total suspension travel.
