Default Fork assembly strange error.

This weekend i replaced the oil sealing on my left fork sice it was leaking.
I decided to also change it on my right since i already had done most of the work.
On the top of (inside) the fork on each side there is on top of the spring a washer then a distance tube then a washer again then a lock washer.
I was very surprise to find that on the right side both the top washer and the lock washer had been pressed down inside the distance tube.
I noticed that both the tube and the washer was slightly oval in shape therefore this was possible.
This means of course that the spring did not operate correctly on the right side.
When I corrected it I thought that it was not impossible that this could happen again because it looks like a very cheap design. Aspecially the distance tube that I found to be to weak.

Any comments or anoyone who have seen the same?

By "distance tube", do you mean the spacer? You can use PVC tubing to replace it.
