Default Exhaust Baffle?

Hi All,

My exhaust has been drilled out by the previous owner, by drilled out i mean 8 small holes in a circle around the main outlet. Is there a way of packing the exhausat to make it more quiet?

My old stock ones were a little louder that normal but I don't know why. I put a 4-2-1 straight through on with a reverse cone & 1 3/4 pipe in the middle to tune the power & I now have a lot less drama in traffic. I'll never go to a quiet exhaust again. Mine isn't loud but people can hear me coming.
The stock muffler is rather thick stainless steel & all spot welded. The end caps can be removed by drilling out the 3 welds as I did to mine. Then weld a nut inside & just a gutter bolt painted black to put them back on. No one even notices that it's been done as they sit flat & don't attract the eye. There is a bloke here in Adelaide that builds motorcycle exhausts. Surely theres one there in Melbourne. Ask the bike shops. Someone would know???

The idea posted above by Classic re: using screws is the best way to accomplish what you're asking. If that doesn't do it, you're only out a buck or two.

Yep, I'd say using screws would be easiest to do. However, you could always weld them shut, too. That's what I planned to do if I ever wanted to go back, but I like a little noise.

Hmm... I wonder if the PO drilled the holes after reading about it on this forum?? LOL..

Looks like the previous owner drilled out the rivets and just never put in new rivets. A gasket seal can also be used around the edges too if its leaking.

Cool

Sprocket has four holes in his and he uses "plugs" in his. He takes them out when he rides around and puts them in when he rides to work. He has it up on youtube, so you can hear and see the difference.

No rivets, prolly just holes in the endcap.

And I don't see why sprock would bother with the plugs unless he's a wiener.

Ya know what Trout you simple minded misfit ..............
take that striped bass ya caught and dump it in your panties
cuz it's the only wiener you'll ever be able to point to.....

But yeah mine has 3 5/8 inch holes drilled in each can. I use hex
bolts to close 'em when I'm riding down to Massachusetts ( noise
laws) and take them out for riding about locally here ....not as
strict on Noise Ordinances in this Town.

Best of both worlds really

I know I have some vids on here from July ............let me go find

Yep ............found it and the thread

here also is Classic's vid of his from a good while back , and Indy's before he
put his new V & H last week.
