Default Engine Rebuild

I am considering biting the bullet and doing a rebuild some time this year.

What I want to know is what are the thing that are really going to cost the big $$$.

Things like seal XXX thats costs a fortune.

I know about thing like the starter clutch & alternator dampener that won't be cheap.

But if anyone has done it before and got a list of the real expensive stuff it would be great.

Thanks
Rob

Here (in Sweden) it's by far cheaper to buy a completelow mileage engine than to do a complete enginerebuildon a high mileage unit.

Ahh she's started burning 2l of oil every 5000k. Plus I want a big bore kit Plus its usually after 100,000ks that the starter clutch goes and I might as well do a re-build while I am in there. Shifting is also getting harder & noisier despite replacing all the detent bits etc.

Ok Rob. Pop up on david silver spares and see what you can find. A full gasket set here is £133.00 and o/s pistons are £20.00 each plus rings, also when you get your rebore done have your new valves seated as this will save time and money and the bearings in the box are £15.00 for the main and £20.00 for the needles then you've got the shells on the crank shaft for the pistons as well. Job lot, should set you back £600.00. But this should ease with doing most of the rebuild yourself. Let us know how you get on.
