Do K&N Filters make much difference?

My carbs had 120's in it stock. I took those out, put in 118's with adjustable tapered needles and drilled slides. Also have a 4-2-1 Yoshi pipe and K&N filter. Mine had a sticker on the airbox that said it was adjusted for high altitudes too though. Below 4K rpm in higher gear it bogs and chugs, but overall it runs pretty good. I am tired of adjusting the needles on it. I got the jets and stuff out of a jetted set of junk carbs. Now they are spare parts, hehe.

I had a full Laser 4-2-1 system on my -92 and it also had a K/N filter. The main jets where #122. I had to raise the needles two steps from the middle position to get the bike running properly. When they where in the middle position it hesitated a lot at 6000 rpm. The problem was there also with the stock downpipes, dual aftermarket mufflers and a K/N filter. Once sorted out, I didn't have to change anything when the 4-2-1 system came on.
