Default crazy rpms

I just tore my bike down the the frame and am putting it back together. Now when I start it, the RPMS climb and don't come back down. I want to say that the carbs are sticking open, but I just cleaned them before I put them in. Also, the throttle doesn't snap back like it should after you twist it. The throttle return line is attached and seems to be working. I'm not really sure what it could be.

Thanks

Scott

Sounds like the cables are getting nipped under the tank maybe?..

Sounds like either the throttle cable is kinked or not routed right or the twist grip assembly is snagging the moving bit. Disconnect the cables at the bars and fire her up. If the problem's gone it's the latter, if not the cable's kinked. Mine's done this too after havingthe carbs off and it was as simple as the twist grip fouling on the switch block. Lube the cables and lightly grease the nipples () while you're at it and see what happens. That's all that springs to mind ATM, somebody else might come up with something else.

Also if you have your throttle cable too tight for opening up it wont close back quickly.

Sprock bate for sure.

I also agree that the cables are not run correctly.

Provided the cables are ok, a carb out of sync will hold the idle way high too. If you rev it and it doesn't return to idle, load the engine,ie; brakes applied, in gear and let clutch out a little. If idle is driven down and stays down when you pull the clutch back in, go for the sync. If you have been in the carbs you need to do it anyway. Make sure all your carb work is right as well.
