Does the cooling system allow the coolent to be drawn back into the system when it is cold, or does the overflow just retain "extra" coolent? I had it out for a good ride today after replacing the two hose clamps on the rubber part in the picture. All seems well. I dont have a way to pressure test it, but I might have a friend at a garage who might have one. Thanks forthe advice!

That three way fitting is plastic and with age deteriorates. First sign might seem to just be a leaky joint repaired by tightening the hose clamp. Then it starts again because the fitting has become mushy.

That happened on mine at about 70,000 miles. I suspect it's an age and heat cycle thing, both contributing factors. Hope that helps.

Yeah, what everybody else said. Can't be a whole lot of things, really.
+1 on not getting honda o-rings. I bought a set of "universal"AC o-rings for $3 at AutoZoneto fix a leaky injector once. Never gave me another problem. Honda is crazy sometimes.

What I wanted to say was that it was the rad cap that I believe was leaking. I did replace teh hose clamps....hard to fine canadian made clamps, all they had was "made in China" crap! Whats up with that![:@]

I don't know if the overflow is supposed to be drawn back into the system as my bike didn't have a pipe inside the overflow tank. I fitted one anyway. Not given me any trouble & good insurance for $2.00.

Good point BB. I'll have to look into that. It makes sense that it should be able to take in coolent as well as expell it.....
