Charging Problems with 90 1000FL please help!
Well those readings are not that unusual , if you see it heading for 16' 17's 18's
then that R/R is going bad again.
When mine started going bad it was reading high 16's into mid 17's and sometimes low 18's
Other than that I'd say ride on man, the R/R's get hot always

Years ago, I cut up an old computer cpu heatsink, used so heatsink compound on the backside then used a pair of zip ties to hold everything tight

About 5 mins after I posted the question I had a moment of clarity ( rare these days ! ) and realised that almost any heat sink will do the job it's just a matter of getting it all to fit.
Have located a supplier of various sized heat sinks and will be adding one over the winter months.
I wish I had seen the original thread a while back as I just bought a new R/R and it isn;t much more in price for the heatsink type
