Angry Charging Problems!!!!

OK so I bought this bike about a year ago. No problems for a while then my battery goes dead, Ok replaced the r/r and ohm checked everything else. All good good, charging voltage 14.3 volts @ about 3,600 rpm. Oh yea i bought the r/r from dennis kirk costed me 95 bucks! everything is good or so i though, went for a ride about 150 miles got home and smelled rotten eggs!! Cooked my battery, checked the voltage 16.2. Pulled the r/r and sent it back to electrosport to get a replacement. In the mean time i bought a new one from ebay, not top of the line but one to use untill i got my good one back. It was working fine i put about 350 miles on it untill it crapped out. This time it burnt up my connector and killed my battery again!! Damn this is really getting to me, It has me worried b/c i am now 800 miles from my home for work and if i break down i am screwed, no body to come get me. I have been lucky so far the last r/r the burnt up happened to me right as i pulled into the parking lot. So i guess my question is does anybody have any ideas on something i might be missing, and if anyone has replaced their connector for the r/r. i found one in dennis kirk for 10 bucks. I am thinking that maybe i just have not been having luck with the r/r's. This time i am going to put in a new battery, change the connector and new r/r. Any input would be great, thanks in advance for any help.
