80 weight gear oil -- comes right off with Honda polish or soap and water.

w-d 40 works great for cleaning your chain and taking off all that chain lube that was slung all over the place

Like chain stretcher said gear oils good and cleans of wheels easy, you do have to apply it a bit more frequent though as it will flick off easier.

so would you lube your chain and then top it off with WD40 or vice versa?

I clean it with WD-40 first and then apply a thin coat of CHAIN WAX.
The "fling" is minimal and the wax burns of easy compared to oily stuff.

I use Motorex Racing (red Can) fantastic with bugger all fling and can be applied to a cold chain.

I lube mine every 300km and clean the chain with kero ever 600km.

My chains have so far lasted me 20,000ks every time.
