Hey Sprock,

I've run ATF in my forks before with no downside. What's your thoughts on that?

I set a level rather than fill to a capacity. With springs and spacers out, forks collapsed I set my level 125mm below the top of the fork tube and am happy with the handling.

My 1990-91 manual, page 1-11, says 172mm (6.8 inches). But pmcg's higher level (more oil) will give a sportier ride. I might try something in between next time, like 150mm.

Hey Wakey1races, welcome to the forum.

I did mine last year and added a little more than I needed. Then I measured a small tygon tube 6 3/4" and marked it. I then sucked out what was not needed so that both legs were the same. Easier than going down the tube and measuring the depth to the oil.

(6 3/4) inches = 171.45 millimeters

Recommended 172mm for Mk3 - ya sucked too much .......I'll say no more lol

I put progressive springs in mine. But if you're gonna keep the original set up I'd put in a bigger spacer to stiffen the front up rather than over fill the oil. Just my 2cents
