CBR 1000 CB1000 MAYBE
Hey everyone. I am new to this forum but I have found it quite helpful Especially this section. Now , because of my current military and family obligations. I had been Mountless for a long while but found a CBR 1000 F for $2100 and purchased it . Knowing it had received major rebuilt work. At the time, but I was unaware of year model specifications and over the last couple of months of owning it, I have become aware of them. It was at this point I realize that this 1993 has a 5 speed gear box, which was never an option for this model bike. I am thinking that along with all new plastic, bars, peg V & H 4 to 1 exhaust and etc, etc.... that the engine was also replaced with a CB 1000 engine. I have reached this conclusion based on the grind marks on the frame from making hard contact with pavement and the obvious 5 speed gear box. Does anyone know exactly how to identify the difference between these two 1000's other than the gear box? And of coarse, what are the internal difference? And is there any way to bring it to the correct specifications without a complete engine replacement. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

I think that the CB has lower compression and maybee smaller carbs. It seems like they do this to most of the naked versions of sport bikes. Stupid. Anyways, not worth the money to bring it up to CBR specs, carbs are expensive, shaving the head may or may not work to bump up the compression but it'd be a pain in the *** and expensive. Same deal with the gearbox. Or maybee it's a previous generation CBR1000 hurricane, I think they were 5 speed
You have a performance exhaust and if the carbs have been jetted (better filter too?) then you've probally gotten close to the same power as the CBR. On the up side, it may last a little longer with the lower compression. You only paid $2100 for it so it's a decent deal anyways, I'd just live with it, yu don't really need a 6 speed on a 1000 anyways.

I just wanted to give an update on the bike dropped it off at a local shop about 2 week ago Turns out it is the RIGHT ENGINE SC 24, there was just something broke in the gearbox one of the shop mechanic's owns an CBR 1000 and agreed to fix the bike In his off time And after giving the bike a good thoroughgoing over. He said It has K&N air cleaner stage 2 jetting and the V & H SR2 exhaust system. I am going to take it back and have it dyno just to see what is what Here is photo of the bike

I "think" the cbr cams can go in... but i'd just ride it... there are always "faster" bikes out there... no matter what you ride.A very clean bike, good price, and plenty fast for MOST all ride'n. If you need much more hp... there are lots to choose from... and you'll get suspension upgrades, at the same time!!!!
