Carb Balancing

It's much easier with a four gauge set up Steve. To be honest I'm not sure if you can do it with two gauges as it wouldn't be possible to se the effects of adjustment of one carb across the board.
I bought a MORGAN CARBTUNE CARBURETTOR BALANCER 4 from ebay last week only to have my payment refunded a few hours later because the warehouse had apparently gone up in flames.
I'm still looking for another one. The beauty of this particular piece of kit is that it doesn't contain mercury like the older ones did.
I'm in no rush to do anything to the bike at the mo. It's running so well I'm afraid if I did anything to it I'd make it worse.
The ride I had on Friday........ jesus man, I swear the old girl had been stung up the **** by a big old Hornet.
Perhaps we can have a balancing party some time.

I got these 4 around 100 bucks.. it is much easier with the visibility of all four as from what Ive noticed its very much a relative adjustment, as you doing 1 the others shift also..not sure what your base carb is mine was no 3. so its nicer to see all four together..

If memory serves me right which it sometimes dosen't .............
According to Haynes the base carb is number 2 as seen sitting on the bike looking left to right.
I did mine with a niffty twin balancer that looks very Heath Robinson but worked a treat.
( CONSISTS OF ABOUT 2 METRES OF WASHER TUBE AND 2 SMALL BALL BEARINGS ! )
I would be interested to hook it up to a damped 4 guage unit to compare though.

I'd be interested to see how you did that with just two gauges but I think I'll stick to four.
Are you and Hawk up for the weekend ride on 5th August?
Hawk,
I sent an email to the Morgan guy and he reckons they'll be back in stock in two weeks or so.

Your what? Don't leave us on tenter hook Tim for Christ's sake.
As for the right way to do this there are **** loads of how too's and info here about synching. Number 3 is your base carb.
Last time I did it I used a mates gauges. Drove into his drive and without turning the engine off had the tank up, pipes connected, balanced and adjusted, tank down, rode straight to the pub and forgot all about it until starting her up for the way home.
It's a quite a revelation, one I"m looking forward to next time, though she's running like a dream right now.
