This is one company - there are plenty of others.
I used this one to show colours.

You will notice the biggest difference if you just change the front pair of hoses to braided on the LBS bikes.

They are also the easiest to do because you bleed just like a non LBS system.

Only when you want to change the rear hoses and front to rear hoses does the bleeding get more technical.

If you do decide to de-link, you might want to find the master cylinder from a CB1300 ( 14mm master cylinder ).
This will correct the lever/caliper ratio when you link the three pistons in each front caliper.

Is it worth the trouble to de-link your brakes? This is my first bike so I've always ridden with linked brakes.

I'm in the east bay. I haven't seen too many hurricanes around here

The main reason I want to do this is to isolate the front and rear brakes for fast riding in the curves. I'm used to trail braking with the front and using the rear when I think I'm too fast in the curve. At regular riding and a little fast the brakes work perfectly fine. I even like braking slow like to a stop sign using just the rear less fork dive and it actually stops.

They never imported the CB1300 into the states so I don't think I could get the master cylinder unless I bought new from Honda. I'll have to check if another bike has the same part number.

The CB1300 has the same piston size as these bikes. They each have their own part numbers for the Master Cylinder themselves, but as long as the piston diameter is the same its all good. Or get yours bored out to 14mm then use a new piston & seal kits of Ebay.

Gonna have a shot at delinking the brakes too. Can anyone tell me what length the new hoses should be and a template for the brackets would also help.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Not sure about line length but if you get the three line kit for a 90/91 CBR1000f ( Pre-CBS ) you will have the correct hose lengths.

I looked at Spiegler and they list 87-88 and 89-, and I'm not sure that means 89-91. They have a 2-line kit that I've liked on other bikes. Any thoughts on the 89 and 90-91 compatibility?

For the brackets TimBucTwo's procedure sounds simple and doable.

In the UK the 89 to early 92 bikes were all the same - wider wheels but not yet CBS equipped.

I think it was the FK, FL and FM models

HEL lines are the ones I used on my 1990 bike (non CBS)

I found the best kit had two full length lines from a double banjo at the master cylinder to the calipers and a single rear line.

Hel USA went out of business a while ago at least the importer of Hel. But it looks like the UK site will ship international for a reasonable price. Only thing is the shipping time. I wanted to make sure most of the caliper work was done before I spent the money on the brake lines. Who knows what might go wrong, or I might screw up. I might have to buy long before I wanted so I'm not held up by the lines when I'm done. Cold weather is coming fast. At least Hel has a good reputation so I'm willing to spend the money.

I never used a rear SS line. Do you think it helped?
