I would not rule out the R/R....
thanks for the tips. I'm picking up a fully charged new battery tonight, so will run these tests on he original battery to see what the result is. My charger is only acheapie from the WhareHou, and only indicates when it is charged.

As an aside, I cleaned out the carbs yesterday, it fired up ok. I kicked it over this morning and it fired up pretty quickly. I stopped at the servo for gas on the way to the orifice, and it took ages tostart again...

So, the mantra made to all newbies is to search the forums first. I admit, I didn't do that properly. I have been referred to this thread which sounds like exactly what's happening to my bike.

https://cbrforum.com/m_382825/tm.htm

Still, I'll exhaust all other avenues first before trying this scenario...

Well, the brand newYuasa went in,but the starting problems still exist. So now I've got a strong indication of what the problem is, thats my nextSaturday sorted. I'm going to swap the plates around first up, andif still no joy, I'll be buying a newdamperset for christmas...I'll update this thread when its all done.

Thanks for all your feedback, tips and ideas.

Hat tip to you all.

Hey Shadow.

It'll be the Alt damper (which gets confused with the sterter clutch)that causing the grief, as wasmy baby's prob.

Haven't seen one of those in your travels have you???

None avail in NZ and the one I picked up was a back ordered one that the couldn't return..

Only stator part I've seen is a complete stator cover for $50.........
It's an alternator on a car, stator on a bike, methinks.....
I've never seen any stator plates........
I'll have a search and see what can be dug up......
