Hi Chris,
When I changed mine a couple of months ago, I put the old one upside down on the bench, and after a few hours all the muck dripped out. I think it would probably be OK to re-use, but I had the new one, so fitted it anyway.
Due to the location of it, I would say that in-situ cleaning is impossible (unless you turn the bike upside down!)
Cheers,
Rob

Cleaning it in the engine isn't really a good idea. You'd end up with all kinds of solvent and muck in the oil pan. Take it out, turn it upside down, pump it until nothing more comes out, then hold it in solvent and pump it some more. Then leave it sit overnight, drain it in the morning. I repeated that process until no more gunk came out when clean solvent was put in, then filled it with engine oil and reinstalled it. I then rode the bike for a while, took the CCT back out, threw it away and put a new one in. Problem solved. Somehave had good luck cleaning and reinstalling, I didn't.

Go to page 17 of the threads and look under engine flush. This is the method I used myself and was very successful with cleaning the cct and engine. All the rattles from the cct were taken away.
